Perception and reality are two different things that often, if not almost always, show up as one thing to the mind – “reality.”
This is what gets us in to trouble.
We think we know what we know …. based on what we think is real. But what shows up as “real” is often just made-up stuff of the mind. And it’s VERY convincing!
The mind does two things: it makes decisions about people and things based on how it interprets what’s happening. And then it makes it’s interpretations NOT as interpretations but as statements of fact.
Only when we separate the two do we have a chance at responding to life vs reacting under the influence of our mind’s story of reality.
What in your life is real? And what in your life is made up?
I ask myself this question whenever I get a chance.
When I ask myself,”Am I in victim mode or creator mode?”, I can instantly tell by noticing my body posture. If I’m in victim mode, I feel a heaviness about me, and a slight pulling forward and down of my shoulders.
The critical insight here is to know just how powerful these “states” are.
